ThingLink in the Classroom
Travelogue
Have students create travelogues for their own vacations or even for literary characters. Each link can take the audience to a new landmark or even documents attached to a particular landmark. For instance, Huckleberry Finn might want to show the audience what it was like to ride on a steamboat down the Mississippi River, stopping along the way for interesting adventures.
Timeline
Students can create a timeline of events, linking primary documents, interviews, videos, or pictures for each event. For instance, students might want to create a timeline of the Civil War, creating links for each battle that take the audience to battlefields, letters from soldiers, or videos on particular battles.
Author Biographies
Assign students an author to research for which they have to link pictures of the author, pictures of the author's family or childhood home, texts of correspondence or literary works, pictures of the author's grave site, interviews with the author, etc.
Writing Instruction
Create links to tutorials on documentation, organization, thesis statements, etc. Students could even create these presentations and present them to the class as a way for them to take ownership of the concepts.
As a Method for Lesson Delivery
Introduce a unit or lesson by linking videos or documents that are related to the lesson's theme:
